Of course they can. I use www.freetypinggames.com to see how well they can type in the beginning of the school year.

Use them because they enjoy them and learn at the same time.

I know my own children learned by playing games. I think I should start playing games too!

Sure they can. Review games are great. They keep the kids interested and also review the material. Plus the added bonus of competitiveness that makes some lower level kids actually care. Competitiveness helps to bring out the will to learn in some kids.

There is no time for games in the serious classroom.

PS. In my classroom we play games frequently for review, competition, or simple to exercise our brains. The students are engaged and thinking... there has got to be learning involved here.

Positively!!! I always look for a game in teaching certain parts of language arts. Kids really respond well.

I think that it depends on the game. Also the game has to fit the age of the students you are teaching.

I like to use Jeopardy for a unit review. Games can be a good way to review/learn if it is content driven; however, it is important not to overuse them.

Yes. Games can be a tool in enhancing every area of a child's development. They can provide a more relaxed approach for learning.

Games can be helpful if they are subject related.

Yes,yes, yes. My elementary kids love the games I play with them. It helps them in reviewing and retaining the information. I use one game, Loony, to help them with their vocabulary and learn to ientify the words they had in their previous lessons.
